Sunday Mornings 8:30am and 10:30am In the summer of 1967, America experienced a cultural revolution. Thousands of young people descended on our cities & towns and committed themselves to changing the way we all think about love, peace, community and the world around us. It was called the Summer of Love. More than 40 years later society is still searching for the truth about love. We are still dissatisfied with the status quo. We are still wary of what the world teaches. We are convinced that there must be a better way to live. This summer we invite you to join a new revolution. This one is based on the concepts and teachings of a revolutionary who lived over 2,000 years ago. It, too, was based on ideas like love, peace, community and the world around us. In 1967, the Summer of Love was a counter-culture revolution that began on the corner of Haight & Ashbury in San Francisco. In 2008, can we affect the world around us by starting a true revolution on the corner of 31st & Midwest Road in Oak Brook? It's time for another cultural revolution. It's time for "The Summer Of Love."
Throughout the summer we'll look at some of the issues raised by the counterculture in 1967. Things like: Free love, revolution, generational & racial issues, sit-ins, war and peace. How do these issues play out in 2008 and what did the greatest revolutionary of all time have to say about them? Join us each Sunday morning as we look back, look around, and look beyond our comfort zone. Childcare & children's ministries are provided during both morning services. We invite you to join us for coffee, donuts & fellowship on the lawn between the morning services.
